T Level - Education and Childcare

Entry Criteria:
– Five GCSE’s at Grade 4 or above
– GCSE Mathematics or English at Grade 4 or above.

Coursework/Examination Requirements:
The knowledge and understanding of the core units will be assessed
by examinations and an employer set project. The occupational specialism will be an assessment by an
externally set project.

Awarding Body/Specifications:
NCFE CACHE T Level in Education and Childcare.
Students will be awarded an A*-E grade for the core knowledge and a Pass, Merit or Distinction for the
specialism. A T Level is the equivalent of three A levels and are calculated into UCAS points.

After completing this course you will be able to progress into employment within the Early Years sector. Alternatively, you may wish to go on to study
for a degree, other Higher Education studies or teacher training. The career progression of previous students includes Social Work, Paediatric Nursing and Teaching.

Through your two-day a week placement, you will work in a range of Early Years settings which will increase your confidence and ability to practise
as an Early Years Educator. You will also achieve other relevant short courses as part of this qualification.

T Level Qualification:
This course is equivalent to three A Levels and is a two-year specialist work related programme of study that covers the key knowledge and
practical skills required in the care and early years’ sectors. This qualification is approved by the National College of Teaching and Leadership to confer Early Years
Educator status. The knowledge will be gained through the study of a range of units including safeguarding, health and safety, child development, supporting
education, observation and assessment, behaviour, working with others, parents and families, equality and diversity, Special Educational Needs, reflective practice
and English as an Additional Language. The skills will be gained through work experience in a range of different placements.

If you choose to take this course, you will undertake various units of study and spend a minimum of 750 hours in assessed practice through a variety of industry
placements. Placements will be with babies, preschools, primary schools and children with special needs. You will be expected to work alongside qualified staff,
to assist them in looking after the children, organising activities and developing learning resources, all of which are essential elements of this T Level enabling you
to gain the Early Years Educator status. The industry placements will enable you to put classroom theory into practice, increase your employability skills and
improve your confidence.
